Guide Cohort Testimonials

How Joining Pathway WBC’s Guide Cohort and “The Women’s Advantage” Forum Helped My Business

Did you know that more than 10 million US women own their own businesses, but that only 5% of them ever reach $1 million in annual revenue? Pathway WBC is out to change those statistics with our Guide Cohort.

Pathway WBC is proud to be graduating our first Guide Cohort on March 27, 2017. These women have spent twelve months following curriculum from “The Women’s Advantage” forum, developed by entrepreneur, author and speaker Mary Cantando.

We asked our current Guide Cohort members about their experience with Pathway WBC and The Women’s Advantage.

Here is what they had to say….

GUIDE COHORT GRADUATE: Corissa Wiest, MBA, CPA Candidate, Founder of Synergistic Solutions

Corissa Wiest, Synergistic Solutions
  1. How has your business changed or evolved during the cohort?

Because of Pathway WBC, my business has become more profitable. Not only due to increased sales, but by focusing on true profitability, I have been able to cut costs and really focus on activities that generate revenue in my business.

  1. What was the one thing you learned and have implemented that is having the biggest impact on your business?

I learned to focus on the profitability of the projects I complete. At first I assumed every project was profitable because my revenue was more than my costs, but after really reviewing the projects, I was able to determine that some projects are increasingly more profitable than others. This has led me to focus on those more profitable projects.

  1. Was membership in the Guide Cohort worth the investment?

Definitely. I am a CPA by trade, so I articulate value by assigning monetary values. There were so many insights truly were worth thousands of dollars that I would have had to pay for in the open market. Across the board I cut costs by 30%, my productivity has increased by 20%, and in the last 4 months my revenue has increased by 5%.

  1. What was your biggest “ah-ha” moment?

I don’t need to grow my business at lighting speed. I can take my time and create growth that is focused and sustainable.

I also realized the struggles in my business are universal, and not unique to me. Many of the female business owners in our cohort struggle with many of the same issues. It was amazing to have a place where you can share these struggles and get insights to face them head-on.

  1. What your advice to the next Guide cohort?

Like most things, you only get out what you put in. If you want to see results, it’s all up to you!

GUIDE COHORT GRADUATE: Julie Lilliston, President of Julie Lilliston Communications LLC

Julie Lilliston, Pathway WBC member
  1. How has your business changed or evolved during the cohort?

The biggest change is my business has grown by leaps and bounds. I have more diverse clients who are doing exciting things and I’m grateful for Pathway WBC for showing me the way to grow.

  1. What was the one thing you learned and have implemented that is having the biggest impact on your business?

Having the courage to go for it and be confident in my abilities to lead and grow my business. Each day is a new day and there are many ups and downs in business ownership. The rewards of helping clients achieve their dreams and contributing to their success has been worth it.

  1. Was membership in the Guide Cohort worth the investment? Why?

Absolutely. I can’t say enough about the quality of the women involved in my cohort – I deeply respect all of them. And our facilitator, Rhonda Marko, has been an absolute blessing and tremendously generous with her time, talents and sharing best practices.

In fact, over the past  12 months, my revenue has increased by 40%

I feel extremely lucky to have participated in the Guide Cohort and The Women’s Advantage and look forward to continuing a relationship with many of the women in our group.

  1. What was your biggest “ah-ha” moment?

When I realized that the greatest barrier to success was my own limiting beliefs. Pathway WBC, The Women’s Advantage program, and the women in my cohort have been invaluable to challenge me think big to take my business to the next level.

My biggest takeaway is that no one has to go it alone. In fact, it’s impossible to do it yourself. Align yourself with successful business owners and learn everything you can from one another. It’s been incredibly empowering, inspiring and motivating to have support from others as I push through the growing pains of entrepreneurship.

  1. What your advice to the next Guide cohort?

Get engaged as deeply as you can so you reap the benefits. This is a time to dive in and get your hands dirty and ask the hard questions. Sometimes you don’t know the answer but at least you have asked the question and that will put you on the path to solving it. This is your time to contemplate, dream, and take action on those things you’ve been afraid to tackle.
